Workshop Descriptions and Schedule
Behavioral This four hour Workshop is designed to familiarize employees of the JFM Rights Policy, Public Law (RPR by PL 1993, c. 326, §1) 34B § 5601 Thru 34B § 5608. Additionally, circumstances under which rights are restricted, and when to report rights violations are also covered. Price: $50.00 per person
This introductory training elaborates on the fundamentals of disabilities, mental retardation, levels of mental retardation, normalization, people first language, and the difference between developmental and chronological age. There is also a discussion regarding the difference between mental retardation and mental illness. Price: $50.00 per person
This four hour Workshop focuses on the basic principles of objective behavioral reporting. The definition of behavior will be outlined and students will practice using behavioral language to write written reports. In addition, participants will be exposed to the concepts of Positive Programming and our JFM Behavioral program process. Price: $50.00 per person
This four hour Workshop will illustrate to participants the basic principle that nearly everything we do providing direct care is some form of behavior modification. In modifying people’s behavior, sometimes our actions are unregulated and sometimes they fall under Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Bureau of Mental Retardation Chapter 5 Section 2 Regulations Governing the use of Behavioral Procedures for Clients of the Bureau of Mental Retardation. The three levels of behavioral intervention will be examined focusing on teaching participants how to use the regulations as a reference. Price: $50.00 per person
This course has been designed specifically for employees who work with people who have developmental disabilities and can be physically aggressive. Employee safety will be a major focus as well. This course is designed to train staff in methods of assessing, preventing , and physically managing dangerous behavior, as well as to develop strong professional relationships with people even if they have challenging behavior. Emphasis is placed on avoiding conflict and fostering an atmosphere of cooperation with the people you serve. Certification is good for one year. Due to our agreement with NAPPI International, we can offer this to companies with 50 or fewer employees. Price: $250.00 per person
NAPPI Four Day Workshop Re-Certification This two day Workshop will review the skills learned in the four day Workshop. Participants in the four day Workshop need to attend every twelve months. Due to our agreement with NAPPI International, we can offer this to companies with 50 or fewer employees Price: $125.00 per person
Mandt Intermediate Three Day Course This course is an option for organizations that have more than 50 employees or need a more economical behavioral component to the DSP I Certification. The concepts offered in The Mandt System® clearly promote respect and dignity for all people. There is emphasis on the team approach to ensure well-being and safety in both nonphysical and physical situations. This workshop is scheduled on an as needed basis. Call for scheduling information. Participants receive certification in checking conscious and unconscious adult victims, administering rescue breathing, clearing obstructed airway, and one person CPR for adults.
